S&M Pipes is the passion of Steve Schwartz and Mitch Kalter. Steve restores fine vintage pipes and Mitch creates custom works of art. Steve splits his time between Virginia and Maine. Mitch enjoys life in New Hampshire.

We’ve both been very lucky to benefit from the tutelage of great pipe makers and pipe restorers, who were willing to share their tools, techniques, and knowledge. This includes Tim West, Joe Skoda, and others. They’ve been indispensable in our continuing journey to hone our skills and improve our products. That’s one of the best things about the pipesmoking community….just about everyone has a genuine interest in helping develop the skills of others, and infecting the new generation of pipe smokers with the excitement that we all get when we’re lighting up that new pipe or enjoying that special tobacco!
